D23 Expo is happening this weekend, and it’s a big event for fans of Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Pixar. However, there was a big bombshell that dropped this week with Disney and Sony having a disagreement that led to Spider-Man being pulled from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney wanted 50/50 stake for the Spider-Man films with Kevin Feige as the one leading the charge, but that was too much for Sony. Disney originally had 5% for the collaboration with Sony and Spider-Man, and that number was too low for them. Sony still retains the film rights for Spider-Man, and Stan Lee’s daughter, J.C. Lee, has sided with Sony while slamming Marvel Studios and Disney.
“Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father’s creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy,” J.C. Lee tells TMZ.
“Whether it’s Sony or someone else’s, the continued evolution of Stan’s characters and his legacy deserves multiple points of view,” she continued.
“When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me. From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency.”
“In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney’s executives,” she concluded.
The relationship between J.C. Lee and Stan Lee have been tested, with reports of her abusing her father and mother, Joan Lee. THR reported that J.C. was accused of abuse, and it had photos of Joan’s injuries complete with details. According to reports, caregivers would make note of how J.C. Lee would ask for money from her father and scold him for more money.
In a declaration on February 13, 2018, Stan Lee said, “It is not uncommon for J.C. to charge, in any given month, $20,000 to $40,000 on credit cards, sometimes more.” Lee also stated that when she disagrees with him, she “typically yells and screams at me and cries hysterically if I do not capitulate.”
Stan Lee did a video where he supports his daughter. However, there are those who question the validity of the video because of its setting and how he’s being coached into saying things. For example, Keya Morgan says, “And Remember the Macular Degeneration Stan,” and this is the same guy who was arrested for abusing Stan Lee.
